Personal worktop cut incorrectly

Hello everyone,
we have ordered a new kitchen for our new house. I had the room measured by Ikea to avoid possible problems. However, I am assembling the kitchen myself. The countertop was either planned incorrectly or cut incorrectly. The IKEA employee calculated the measurements herself and drew the sketch herself. I "only" signed the order but all the measurements came from IKEA.

Out of 3 parts, 2 are too short. The mistake probably occurred because the countertop was supposed to serve as a windowsill. The employee was aware of this and even if there was no window at all, the countertop would still be too short.

It states on the order that the measurements are from the customer and the countertop is excluded from exchange/return. Since I can only go to IKEA on the weekend, I registered here to find out whether IKEA rejects every complaint or if I can wait for the weekend relaxed.

Has anyone had experience with defective custom countertops from IKEA?

Was the panel delivered differently than ordered, or did you receive a panel that was planned incorrectly? You signed multiple times for a panel with specific dimensions... If you signed for an incorrect order, you might have a hard time, because that's what the signatures are for...

Great. It’s really sh... when the "trained kitchen planner" designs a countertop that doesn’t even fit the base cabinets. It can’t be true that the customer has to find the mistake of the IKEA employee. We were already advised at the beginning by another employee to have the room measured to avoid such problems, and the planner also told me that a second employee would review the plans and get in touch if there was an issue before the order was sent.

Well, it was a very long day of planning and the countertop came at the very end, and the employee calculated everything herself. I wonder if it’s the same at other kitchen studios, that the customer has to check the planned dimensions of the kitchen planner.

Unfortunately, it was not the only mistake in the planning... glass shelves in the wall cabinet above the extractor hood, missing hinges, etc.

There are enough customers who insist on some quirky DIY solutions with "strange" board orders. In the factory, of course, they don’t see the kitchen and can’t check it anymore anyway. If it goes wrong even with the four-eyes principle, then that is bitter. And yes, one should check such things. I don’t find that unusual. Just as you should check deliveries to see if all parts are there and the packages undamaged. Exactly for this reason, you confirm that everything is OK or not. I would still complain. Even if you didn’t insist on the "wrong" measurements, there are still chances to get a new board. The renewed waiting time is, of course, equally annoying.

Yes, we will definitely complain. We spent 7.5t on the kitchen. Everything was bought at IKEA including the appliances. Hopefully, there will be some goodwill. I will report here on how it is handled.

I recently also signed something "blind" and was really annoyed and had a lot of running around afterwards.
