Bamboo parquet. That sounds interesting, but bamboo can absorb up to 80 liters of water per hour! Where can I get that for little money?
I have mixed feelings about tiles; in the garage and basement they serve their purpose. In the living area, you constantly have a cold floor because in my place shoes are generally taken off at the door – unless you live in the South or in Latin America. Then, the smooth stone floor makes it easier to clean out the little critters and whatever else comes in from outside than on a wood or carpet floor.
Parquet made from moon wood is just as durable as a tiled floor and if something hard falls on it, it doesn’t break right away... and it’s also easier to repair than tiles.
I know someone who has – now hold on tight! – installed ribbed sheet metal as the kitchen floor in his house.
But as the inventor of sectional doors, he’s allowed to do that.
