I am, but operating a wall chaser and cutting empty conduits and cables to the right length is not that hard.

We only chased horizontally where it was statically unproblematic. To be precise, only in one single spot. Otherwise, we laid all the roller shutters, audio cables, light outlets, and switch cables in empty conduits in the raw ceiling. This way, we have "light" and roller shutters embedded in the ceiling on both floors. Network, TV, and sockets are laid on the raw floor in the insulation layer. Power basically comes from below. This way, everything in the house is separated. Lights are on two RCDs, power on two other RCDs. So you don’t lose the lights if something trips in the power network. My father-in-law is an electrician, and so we did it all together. I did the rough planning, he did the detailed planning, I chased the slots and laid the cables in, he connected everything and so on...

It worked out great.

In the old house we were busy: walls were moved and rebuilt in drywall including filling and sanding, two bathrooms gutted and rebuilt including tiling, laying laminate and carpet, outdoor stairs tiled (17 steps, two landings), basement stairs also tiled, wooden ceilings installed, terrace laid with wood-look tiles, access to the house paved, outdoor facilities..... over the years quite a lot came together. In the new house we will paint the ceilings, wallpaper, apply fine plaster in the bathrooms and lay floor coverings except tiles, build a carport and log cabin garage. That will be enough. The rest can be done by the craftsmen, including outdoor facilities (except for the planting).

We will do the following

Roof
Complete electrical work
Sanitary preparation
Excavation

My dad is an electrician and retired. My brother-in-law is a roofer and the other one a gas-water installer.
Taking 5 weeks off in a row this year. It will be a tough workload.

We will only do the flooring in the basement ourselves and of course lay out the garden ourselves - but that is more fun than duty.

Excavation should be done by an experienced excavator operator, the excavator is owned by a friend in the fleet.
Father is not doing electrics for the first time in a single-family house, that worries me the least

What we did ourselves:
-House erected in so-called master carpenter assembly (a master carpenter who knows how it’s done and many friends who pitched in) It was a great experience
- Concrete slab
-Interior finishing with timber framing, OSB, plasterboard
-Water and wastewater
-Electricity, except for connecting the distribution cabinet
-Roof insulation and finishing
-Underfloor heating pipes and connection in the distribution box
-Tiling, floorboards
-Painting walls and partially wallpapering
-Sewer connection for wastewater and rainwater
-Installing windows and front door
-Interior doors
-Building the chimney
-Garden and garden shed and dry stone wall for supporting terraces

What we did not do ourselves:
-Roof covering
-Boiler with peripherals
-Excavation with strip foundations
-Screed
-Manufacture and installation of stairs
-Connecting the electricity distribution box

I am a carpenter and construction technician and relatively fast. What we saved by this, I cannot say exactly, only that I was very shocked back then when I saw the price for the also offered turnkey option.

Due to the house construction, all work went very quickly and mostly without problems. I would do it that way again.

Regards
