Our house design with 259 sqm living area on the ground floor and upper floor, double garage

What struck me immediately when looking at the plans is the ratio of the garage size to the residential building is somewhat odd. 5.36 m garage width for a double garage is really very little. I think if you can afford such a house, you probably won’t be driving small cars, and it will quickly become uncomfortably tight. That stands in stark contrast to the house...

The big cars go in front of the garage, otherwise you can't see them. The external dimension is 5.76, internal 5.36 m. That’s why it’s not a prefab garage. That’s all the building authority would give us. How wide are your double garages inside?

5.36 m garage width for a double garage is already extremely little.

The fact that it’s not a full five and a half meters isn’t the end of the world. Garbage bins won’t fit next to it, but if there’s only a C-Class next to the seven-meter one, both can even park in the same driving direction.

Yes, the Lamborghinis have wide doors. But normally this width is already enough for more than two cars, as there can still be garbage bins and bicycles (or a quad or motorcycle) next to them. In most households, you don't have two big beasts right away.

Then from now on there will only be vehicles with gull-wing doors I think around +-6m should be enough. You want to be able to open the doors on both sides, and if it's an extra deep garage, you also want to be able to pull a trash bin through there. It will get interesting with children who need to be loaded/unloaded or even to get a bicycle out from between the cars...
