But that's exactly how it is. However, there are people who need different things than others. So everything is individual.

That's how it is. Our household insurance, for example, is already overinsured. But it will be changed at the next renewal. My car, 18 years old, costs me €330/year for insurance including comprehensive coverage. The comprehensive coverage doesn't make much difference and I've already needed a new windshield. Another advantage is that when the TÜV expires and it’s not worth repairing, you can get the next one for €2000 including TÜV. And yes, they also manage long distances without any problems. The building insurance is also at €360/year. You won't find anything similarly cheap for that. You have to look closely at what you need and want. It's no different with many brokers.

So, I took a look. After switching this year, I pay a gross 24.34 cents/kWh and €4.25 basic charge per month. Calculated with 3600 kWh/a.

Funny enough, I just received my documents for [Feuerrohbau/Gebäudeversicherung]. I will then pay 209 EUR/year next year if it is a building insurance. What is strange from my point of view is that natural hazard damages are unlimited, but damages from precipitation are only insured up to 2000 EUR. What is the difference there? Does anyone know before I have to call again?

I think I recently saw a report where your distinction would have fit well. Water flowed from the balcony into the apartment, which was probably caused by precipitation, that would then be covered up to 2K in your case. But if the whole thing had happened due to a natural disaster, then it would be unlimited. Wherever the boundary would have to be drawn there.
