Yes, you should consider that: the building insurance was something like €150 for us, after 6 years we are at €350. As for the contents insurance, it should be said that it also increases over the years. There is always potential for upgrades.

Especially when it comes to household contents, I would look very closely at what value is actually being applied.

I strongly suspect that many are significantly underinsured when I look at your premiums. I have an annual premium of 180 EUR for my condominium. Some of you pay a little more than half of that for a house! Or are there overlaps with the building insurance and therefore less coverage is needed?

Household contents €257/year, residential building €335/year (incl. insured photovoltaic) Cheap because it is a special rate for me. But I can hardly believe a residential building insurance under €300 – or it is really just very, very basic.

Our bikes are insured under the household contents. Since we are small bike addicts and have relatively expensive bikes (and more than one per person), it has paid off for us. We also have a piano and I have a few not exactly cheap instruments; I wanted that covered as well. Whether I could still grab my clarinets and my bassett horn before running out of the house in a fire – I did not want to rely on that...
