According to your post from the 31st, this is the quote.
Is that still the case today? Serious question.
PS: I was at a training at the Bosch plant 25 years ago. I had no clue because I was just in my early 20s. Everything seemed fine. Whether that impression was accurate? No idea. Even less so today.

Good is relative and already was back then

As I already said: I am talking about the architecture, not about the residents or the housing misery of the working class. I come from Berlin and I know what the 2nd/3rd courtyards looked like. But architecturally, the facades still look impressive over 100 years later, and the former working-class districts are now the most sought-after inner-city districts (as in Hamburg).

then I don’t understand this “everything was better in the past, back then more value was placed on aesthetics.” If you were to base it on the same living conditions, today not everything would be just practical and boring either.

I don’t know the degree of completion of your house, especially regarding the exterior façade. If it’s not already finished up to the fine plaster, talk directly with the craftsmen on the construction site. Maybe something can still be done about the position.

By the way, we have an outdoor water tap and sockets on every exterior wall.

I myself do not work at Bosch, I only worked there many years ago as a working student. However, from friends and my father I believe I know the conditions quite well. The salary today is not much different than in similar large companies, but the "hire and fire" mentality is apparently much less pronounced than at large public companies. Overall, the treatment of employees there seems to be very fair in comparison and training/continuing education is certainly supported. From my circle of acquaintances, no one has left Bosch completely, some have moved internally to other locations or to subsidiaries for career reasons, but no one has left entirely. I think that means something nowadays.

Especially in 1931, during the time of industrialization, the conditions and wages for "workers" were generally catastrophic. At that time, Mr. Bosch's quote was already a small revolution.
