So what? Are rental apartments fundamentally more dangerous? I don't think so.
And yet, it's definitely a matter of taste. We were willing to make many compromises when searching for a house, but we wouldn't have been willing to make this one. Of course, there are worse things, but with this argument I would only consider a rental apartment and not ownership. Our last rental apartment was, for example, very nice in itself, but located on a busy main road (with a garden area at the back). Getting in and out with the kids and making it to the front door was a challenge. Fine for renting for a while, but we would never have considered buying it. And yes, kids grow up, but that takes time. And shopping and dealing with the dog don't suddenly become easier just because the kids can finally walk on their own. So, as I said, for us a no-go, but that’s something everyone has to decide for themselves!
