I don’t get the point of your post. Is the common folk supposed to see how the top 2% build? Do you want admiration? Applause? To teach us something? How much the average builder can take from it, no idea. Apparently, input is not what you want. And with replies like the one above, I also don’t feel invited to a chat about house projects for the AD. Which, by the way, I really like to look at. I know, I don’t have to read it and so on. I’m just curious how the psychology behind it works.

So I am interested in the project, even though I have not yet understood where the extreme costs come from.

I also followed Rick's project with pleasure, even though of course we could not build anything close like that.

Something different! I’m curious to see how the project progresses! It’s very individual - but if you can afford it and don’t have to think about resale, why not? Our semi-detached neighbors have also done a lot of things that were out of the question for us (with children). Would be totally impractical for us, but looks great.

Then let’s take the flush, floor-to-ceiling doors as an example - you spend EUR 2,000+ per door, and I counted many interior doors! (One question - aren’t you going to give the guest bathroom a door!?)

Rick is also a charming client, who usually responds to criticism in a friendly or humorous way and who simply conveys fun in building.

Hi everyone, First of all: No, the post was not meant to show how to drown a project in money. We earn our living as property developers and primarily build appealing and market-standard properties for end customers or as general projects. For ourselves, it should simply be our form of architecture, interior design, and layout - completely regardless of general ideas. Since we have received many impressions, questions, and problem areas from other buildings here, we just wanted to present our project: On the one hand, so that everyone sees that neither the fact that we are both civil engineers nor that we, as property developers, build projects every day, prevents one from experiencing failures, bad luck, and mishaps. On the other hand, I personally always find it nice to see somewhat more eccentric projects. We are aware ourselves that this project does not appeal to the broad masses. As far as costs are concerned .. the amount of costs is mainly due to the equipment and execution: The pool + whirlpool cost €200,000 The trowel floor throughout the entire property costs €100,000 The acoustic ceilings cost €65,000 The pellet heating as a cascade with two pellet boilers and thus 60kw peak load to heat the pool even in winter costs €80,000 including the bunker. It continues like this and is certainly not the main point of the project or the post. Without wanting to polarize further, we are happy to continue presenting our project and hope to offer some entertainment to one or another person with it :) PS: In the guest bathroom, a sliding door from Raumplus is planned

I would be interested to know why you chose pellets for heating and not deep drilling plus photovoltaics.
