We have calculated together with specialists for over half a year. The investment and maintenance for a heat pump is much higher than for gas. Given the heating demand, you need several heat pumps or one really large one. Furthermore, in spring and autumn you do not have optimal efficiency. Munich is also not the warmest area. A geothermal heat pump is even more expensive in terms of investment but cheaper in maintenance. Usually, however, you have to drill again after 20 years. We have also looked at the combination of fuel cell + gas. Here it usually stops at 30kw, so it was discarded. Not to mention the investment. We are planning/building a villa in Bauhaus style with over 600m2 and a 20-meter-long stainless steel pool in southern BW. Based on the key data, the projects are probably quite similar. It is important for the pool to size the sewer connection large enough. During backwash, considerable amounts flow through the pipe. I assume you are building with an architect with individual contracts?

KFW55 is not worth it. Neither is solar thermal energy. You won't get around photovoltaics.

We actually wanted to build with a general contractor/developer, i.e. no individual contracting.

Why can't we avoid photovoltaic? With or without buffer storage? Obviously to reduce electricity costs, since we will also have a considerable amount of self-consumption.

I hope you then have a specialist on hand. This is not an ordinary project. I suspect that there is not much experience regarding the pool, etc. available? How do you control the house? KNX? Presumably, you will significantly exceed the Energy Saving Ordinance but without the requirements to have a real Kfw55.

You need photovoltaics to reach the share of renewable energies. If you also have an air conditioner with a heat pump, that counts too. Alternatively, you can also use bio-gas. But it is not cost-effective. Photovoltaics at least cover part of your own consumption. Currently, a storage system does not pay off. It is quite a zero-sum game. For securing the network, house control, it is better to rely on UPS. Storage is more of a gimmick or if photovoltaics significantly exceed your own consumption. But just the circulation, pool control, network, etc. already draw quite a bit...

No, unfortunately we do not have a specialist on hand yet, as the recommendation of 1-2 heat pumps from the construction company, and without photovoltaics because that only costs money, did not seem quite ideal to me.

Precisely because of the pool, there is not much experience so far - but the pool is not built by the construction company either, rather a separate pool builder. Therefore, it will also be a certain challenge to coordinate the heating.

From when does a separate pool heating (e.g., by heat pump) make sense?

For something like that, you would definitely start with an architect and then gradually involve engineering firms. "Developer, just do it" goes wrong... it would be a shame to waste money.
