Milling solid wood countertop???

Hello How is it with corner joints with solid wood countertops, can they also be milled? In a display kitchen at Ikea, the corner joint was screwed together without milling, but I forgot to ask Ikea at the time what the reason was. Could it be that solid wood countertops are too hard to mill? How is it with the Akerby countertop? It only has a 3.5mm solid wood layer on it, can it be milled? Regards Section Chief

you can also mill a tongue-and-groove joint into a wooden board. However, you can only order this custom-made at Ikea. Delivery time is 5-6 weeks, around Christmas a bit longer. In the showroom, only standard boards were probably shown, therefore no milling but just butt-jointed. That's the inexpensive option.

Thank you, I don’t mean milling tongue and groove now but milling a rounding at the joint so that the rounded edge of the worktop is not visible at the joint. Does Ikea also do something like that with solid wood worktops? Regards Section Chief

this is what a tongue and groove joint looks like on Ikea Personlig countertops when they are custom made. The standard panels are not cut by Ikea. Numerär panels are butt-jointed, for the Prägel panels there is a joint strip, Fixa.
