Since we do not have KNX, I only installed a wind and rain sensor.
Check out Theben weather stations; they are suitable for smart homes and can be attached to the mast via an adapter.
Unfortunately, they are not exactly cheap.

The grounding is also mandatory. A satellite system can be installed one way or another, if done properly it can work well together. What I mostly see, however, is when electricians have no idea about satellite, let alone a proper measuring device. I also installed a DAB antenna for the satellite system, which I currently do not need because radio runs over the internet here. This works quite well, if only our provider could get their network stability in order. It may sound old-fashioned, but I still prefer TV reception via satellite. Internet would be very bad for us, since in the evening we get only 2mbit from our 30000 at times. I have laid LAN to every room, today most things are done over WiFi, network actually only makes sense on the TV and in the office. Better to spend the money on a proper WiFi coverage. Printer, laptops, even inverters all run over WiFi. Regards Patrick

I currently still live in an apartment, have a high-end Fritzbox, and can literally see how the WLAN signal decreases from the living room, through the kitchen, to the office or bedroom. I had already wondered if they had built lead into the walls here. Now, the WLAN chip in my wife’s notebook is probably not the best either, and so it happens that the connection to the NAS is not really performant. Even when she just wants to open the RAW photos from vacation, it takes ages. On my computer, directly connected with Gbit-LAN to the switch, it goes really fast.

A little story of suffering, but I would definitely consider LAN connections in the most important rooms. Just look at the topic of consoles; many games have 60GB+ and are only offered as downloads now, and I believe the trend will continue in this direction.

From my point of view, it’s about a good combination of LAN and WLAN. At the TV spots, in the office, and the children’s rooms, I would definitely install LAN. Maybe also in the utility room and where other multimedia devices might be placed. The washing machine or the smart fridge can then gladly go onto WLAN.

My pre-ordered PlayStation 5, for example, no longer has a disc drive! Everything is done only via download now.
