Land planning - which house type/size is most sensible?

The property slopes down towards the neighbor.

Who is actually responsible for setting boundary stones or stabilizing the neighbor's side?

The surveyor is the engineer, or do you mean the client? Do they then arrange that automatically, or how does something like that usually work?

I think you are confusing something: boundary stones show where the border runs, they are simply small markers in the ground made by the surveyor. It has nothing to do with the stabilization of soil/slope etc. to the neighboring property.

My question is also, who has to take care of the stabilization?

Probably us, because we would be building new, right?

I would start a new thread. You either commission the surveyor yourselves or the general contractor as far as I know. Unfortunately, I can't contribute much to the rest.
