I do a lot with my external steam cooker. Mostly vegetables, pasta, and fish. It's a shame that with mine, you can't put all the parts that get dirty into the dishwasher (which I don't have yet). With a dishwasher, which I will have soon, I definitely want to switch to a stainless steel steam cooker, of course one where I can put everything necessary into the machine. The biggest advantages, in my opinion, are that you hardly have to take care of anything. With the stacking method, everything is almost finished at the same time, and if you "overcook" the vegetables a bit, it hardly matters. Plus, it is very quick to clean, and with a machine even easier. That's what I find so pleasant about steam cooking. The gentle preparation is not really my primary concern. The only reason I can think of to buy a built-in steamer instead of an external device is the amount you can prepare. But since I usually only cook for myself, for two people, and occasionally for up to four, the built-in device is actually too expensive for me. The external ones cost around ~150€, and built-in steam cookers are about 600€? So I wondered what speaks for the 600€ price, besides the quantity.
