Thank you to all the writers!

I gather that there is an urgent recommendation for "affordable" plastic roller shutters, preferably with a motor. Belt operation is apparently mostly out of fashion. A possible revision of the roller shutters is possible from the outside without having to tear down walls or plaster. I don't find a revision from the inside practical with an unpapered plastic flap inside, nor does it sound aesthetically pleasing at all.
Regarding this: Can you *roughly* estimate what it will cost for our "city villa" with 150 sqm and 19 (Brömse) windows?
Unless there's a lottery win this evening, anything over €4000 will definitely be a big challenge; this has nothing to do with stinginess or "miserliness"...

However, one important question still concerns me:
In Gö-Weende, at least two larger apartment buildings are currently being built by/for a housing cooperative. Yesterday I looked for the roller shutters there in vain; today we will look again. The houses are externally largely finished and, in my opinion, will probably be occupied this fall. How is that possible?

The still, in my opinion, not 100% clarified question: On the basis of which paragraph(s) *must* sun protection be installed in a new building?

You can skip the windows on the north and east sides.
Also, when it comes to price discussions, I would avoid "in or out." So rather go for affordable ones with a belt than skip the unaffordable ones!

I don't want to complain but that would be like buying an Audi with window scrapers ...

See no problem with roller shutters with a strap. Many still install them this way, apart from the fact that it doesn’t look nice, there is no significant disadvantage compared to electric ones. On the contrary, operation by hand is faster.

With 4000 euros you will easily manage, I think it will cost less!
