Is building a house today not payable within a lifetime?

The problem with the basement is that it hits you on multiple levels. Earthworks, soil disposal and backfilling with gravel, energetically, interior finishing (even though that is of course not as expensive as in the living area), and of course the basement itself. Depending on the area, you have an expensive sealing with a white tank... 50,000 euros in additional costs are not enough if you calculate honestly. And especially if you have an aversion to debt and anyway a tighter budget... The basement only makes sense with a corresponding slope location. But then you often can't build cheaply anymore.

If money doesn't matter, you can do anything - but I didn't read that from the OP. Green space and the desire to build is fine to start with. The question is whether these motives are so permanent that one would go into debt and possibly experience stress during construction. Other people alternatively rent a community garden or lease a field - both significantly cheaper than a house.

I have not received the property. More properties will be allocated at the end of the year. However, I do not want to wait for that.

Do you have other plans? Why not an existing house?

I am trying to acquire a plot on the open market and might try through a real estate agent. Over the weekend, I looked at seven plots - unfortunately, they were all hillside plots.

If I were to buy an existing property, it would have to be an old half-timbered house or a farmhouse. But energetically, that would be insane.

A little tip for saving: get rid of the basement, fill the upper floor ;) How big do you actually want to build, how many m² of living space, and should or may a second person move in at some point?
