Move the office to the basement?

I only work on the desktop PC because I cannot be productive on the notebook. Additionally, I have two monitors and spend 50% of the time on the phone. This is not enjoyable for anyone when my wife or the children are in the living room. I also do not necessarily want to place my 2m desk in the living room.

Furthermore, the office should also potentially serve guests, so it should be at least 12 m².

And what is so bad about making yourself comfortable in the basement then? Always nice and cool, quiet...

I would also be with Sebastian. Do you think the basement kids were all locked in the basement? They moved in there willingly.

In principle, that would be okay. I just find it nicer on the ground floor since you’re closer to the family there. Besides, we wanted to possibly use the room on the ground floor as a bedroom later. But if it comes to that, you could simply section off a part of the living room.

We will think it over again. But I think it’s the best alternative. Better than a house that is too big and also better than making some compromises on the ground floor.

Well, work is work and family is family - at least as an employee you should strictly separate the two.

And as if the basement is in China. We planned it so that it could also be our bedroom one day...

I work part-time as an employee in the company and the other half self-employed at home.

Of course not. It's more about maybe not being able to climb stairs so well anymore, and then both the basement and upstairs are suboptimal.
