The basement was offered to us at 120 sqm with a white tank at prices between 130-140 TEUR, of course without earthworks. Additionally, there was the risk of water management, which would have completely blown the price. Another risk factor is the disposal of the earth at a landfill.
Oh, it’s just shorter distances. If above ground, why not where it’s needed
=> Absolutely, we have planned more than sufficient storage space above ground and the laundry room with a terrace door leading outside to the garden. It can be well ventilated (draft) and has short distances for drying laundry in the sun.
That’s how I see it too. If you don’t hear a spinning washing machine, there’s something wrong with your ears. Dryers with contents like zippers etc. are also loud.
=> Laundry room behind the garage, far away from the living area, so you don’t hear anything. Not even when the machines run at night. Of course, this always depends on the individual house planning.
What I never understand about the laundry chute topic: it only collects the laundry in another place. Whether I have a laundry basket in the bedroom or bathroom or in the basement hardly makes a difference.
Basically yes. In the old apartment, we had a laundry bin in the bathroom upstairs. Now we have a laundry chute from the upper floor to the utility room. The chute is between bathroom and bedroom. Conclusion: The laundry lands immediately downstairs and is also sorted for washing promptly. The threshold is lower than carrying the heavy bin down the stairs. But that may be different individually.
Yeah, I always thought so too, until I had one. You usually save at least one long trip from the ground floor to the upper floor and then to the basement. And it’s just nice to have the dirty laundry right where it belongs and not buffered on the upper floor.
Exactly, see above.
You can also make the laundry chute from the upper floor bathroom to the ground floor utility room, often seen
Yes, we did that too, it was a good decision!
