Yeah, I always thought so too, until I had one. Usually, you save at least one long trip from the ground floor to the upper floor and then to the basement. And it's simply nice to have the dirty laundry right where it belongs and not stored temporarily upstairs. I can really only recommend it to everyone who has doubts, we were also unsure before building.

Where does it belong then? In the laundry room. Some have that, but where the laundry actually accumulates...

If it weren't for the noise aspect, completely agree

You can also make the laundry chute from the upstairs bathroom to the downstairs utility room, often seen too

Anyway, the point is that I personally don’t want a laundry basket or something like that in my beautiful master bathroom, but rather in a less representative room like the basement or the utility room... to each their own....

The disadvantage, however, is that the laundry unfortunately piles up there out of sight and out of mind, my husband has since stopped helping with the laundry so often (-;

The basement was offered to us at 120 sqm with a white tank at prices between 130-140 TEUR, of course without earthworks. Additionally, there was the risk of water management, which would have completely blown the price. Another risk factor is the disposal of the earth at a landfill.

=> Absolutely, we have planned more than sufficient storage space above ground and the laundry room with a terrace door leading outside to the garden. It can be well ventilated (draft) and has short distances for drying laundry in the sun.

=> Laundry room behind the garage, far away from the living area, so you don’t hear anything. Not even when the machines run at night. Of course, this always depends on the individual house planning.

Basically yes. In the old apartment, we had a laundry bin in the bathroom upstairs. Now we have a laundry chute from the upper floor to the utility room. The chute is between bathroom and bedroom. Conclusion: The laundry lands immediately downstairs and is also sorted for washing promptly. The threshold is lower than carrying the heavy bin down the stairs. But that may be different individually.

Exactly, see above.

Yes, we did that too, it was a good decision!

The laundry chute (singular) here means, according to the previous discussants one laundry chute, in the sense of a single-chamber shaft? How do you handle laundry separation then: collect separately and then throw down mixed, or drop individual items, sort only when filling the machine, and the kids perceive wash categories like hot/delicate/colored laundry as "one mush" due to lack of sorting practice? Or does mom even pick the socks off the children's room floor and the kids don't belong to the group of chute users at all?
