But I really hope so, Müllerin I meant to say that we think just like the majority in our area and a house without a basement would be like a car without a trunk (it's possible too, if you tie your luggage to the roof ;) )

Hello, if we had a concrete use for a basement, one would have been built for us as well. But for us, it would only be a storage space and the laundry basement... many people here build with a basement because they set up an office or something similar there. The selling prices are currently very good here, regardless of whether there is a basement or not. But we don't care about that, and I don’t care what neighbors say or think. Now it’s too late anyway, our ground floor is finished!

So there are the differences, with a ground floor area of 130m² I also wouldn't build a basement. However, others, like Bautraum has written, have a ground floor area of 80m² where the missing 50m² are compensated for. Many say a house without a basement is not a house because they knew it from childhood (parent's house). Everything changes and opinions are not always the same, otherwise we would all surely have the same house in the same color.

my opinion, matter of perspective.

because it could also be that you have a house on a slope and could build a kind of living basement. That example didn't exist yet either ;)

Many people here also say that a house without a basement is not a house. And when I then ask why and what they really have in the basement, I only get a shrug or the answer: utility room and clutter. And honestly: 60-80,000 is an expensive space to keep clutter. If there is a nice granny flat underneath or rooms used as a music room or possibly even as a bedroom, then I also find a basement useful. But just to keep clutter, I think the money is too precious.

I had a terraced house with a basement and an external staircase. One main argument for the new build: no more basement! Here in Northern Germany, much is now built without a basement. Precisely for the reason that mentions. TK, utility room, and storage can usually be combined with any floor area ratio and house style. The necessary rooms can be integrated on the level where they are needed. A garden shed and/or storage at the carport is necessary anyway for bikes, lawnmower, and so on, in addition to the basement.

If my life were a wish concert, I would plan everything on one level with many built-in cabinets where they are needed: toilet paper in the hallway near the bathroom, cleaning supplies and provisions next to the kitchen, laundry as an extra wing, and ancillary rooms in an L-shape attached to the main building so that there is visual and weather protection. No staircase becomes an obstacle or an excuse to be idle :)

Per basement - office/guest room, 2 x hobby room, large technical room with washer/dryer, additional storage options & an extra bathroom - I wouldn't want to do without it. The "Prüddel" is more likely to go to the attic for us...
