Now seriously. We have a sliding door. I don't see why anyone should walk through it, unless there are regularly wet parties. We grill several times a week, I have to go through there several times in the evening. Either I hold the tray with one hand or I put it down briefly.

Let me turn the situation around. What do I do with an insect screen door in the sliding door when I want to come in from outside while clearing the terrace table with the tray? That no longer works so well with the backside. Unless you use the mentioned "through the mesh" method. And the drunk person just runs into it from the outside. Why? Normally a door only opens in one direction, right?

To get back to the topic. Whether door or pleated blind, it doesn't matter at all. Both have advantages and disadvantages. The quality must be right. If you need something like that, I assume it is a frequently used house opening, so "the device" must work accordingly solidly and reliably. I recommend again to check the quality and sample of the builder, compare local specialists, and then decide.

Swing door,
always straight through,
even with full hands,
even tipsy,
even on all fours

With a sliding door? With a correspondingly wide passage?

Whoever has the luxury of a really wide window front with sliding doors also has a solution for insect protection. I just wanted to point out the easy handling of a swing door, also for the dog.

Fits quite well because this topic is currently on my mind as well. We have just received an offer for DEFLEX products including installation by a regional company for 2,600 euros for 5 "normal" windows, 3 swing doors, and a pleated blind solution (DEFLEX Plissee Falter 31) for the lift-slide door.

Kebotherm, my original window manufacturer, proposed 4,500 euros for the same windows.

Has anyone had experience with DEFLEX products in this area? I have no sense of the price. 2,600 is a lot of money for "a bit of mesh against a few flies," but I assume there is some quality behind it. At least definitely more than if I were to get any B1 self-adhesive tension nets... Only the middle muntin on the swing doors for the floor-to-ceiling windows bothers me a bit visually in the pictures. But apparently, there is no alternative here...
