I claim that a folding sliding door, custom-made, smooth-running, in the desired RAL color, is not so easily obtained a) as a DIY project and also needs to be well finished first. For five elements, the price is good. We paid 1,700€ for two pleated blind elements for door and sliding door in the desired RAL color. For simple windows, however, I would simply use hardware store goods (Tesa) to stick onto Velcro tape.

No, it’s not plastic, they are the same aluminum profiles.
You just have to saw them yourself.
Sure, for sliding doors it's different, I said that too.
But in a window it’s actually an equivalent solution. I know both, once professional at my parents-in-law, once at mine from the discount store.
Absolutely worlds better than those stupid grids with Velcro. Those are always junk.

As already mentioned here, in the end it is usually an aluminum profile with some plastic in the middle. I also had various offers and even 100€ for the material alone seems too expensive for something like this. But well - everyone can do what they want with their money. Looking back, I find these prices outright exorbitant. It starts with the manufacturer and ends with most installation companies. If someone is looking for a reasonably priced solution, take a look at the easylife range from Bauhaus. The installation is very simple and the 120x240 version was priced at 129€. The downside is that it is not a swing door. There is one, but for 249€. Unfortunately only 210cm high, which was too small for us. I don’t know about the installation. The 129€ version can only be opened outwards and has a thickness of 11mm - important because of roller shutters. By now, all the parties in our building area have it. Of course, there are arguments in favor of a swing door. But how often does it happen that you come inside from outside completely loaded up? And if that should be the case, you can still open the door beforehand. This door was also installed at our neighbors, by the way. Solid cost of 600€ net. Someone came for 5 minutes to measure, then it was fully assembled at the company. A week later, it was mounted within 10 minutes. I have now installed 4 of these doors and need about 45 minutes for the installation (the first door took two hours). I’d say the installer needs at most 20 minutes. Sorry to say it like this, but to me these prices are absolutely insane once again.

This topic is very current for us right now, so I would really appreciate your opinion :) We only had 4 windows equipped with insect-protection roller shutters by the developer. Now we want to have effective protection on at least 2 more terrace windows. I am thinking of a swing door. We do not want to hire a company for cost reasons, but we are a bit reluctant to drill through the window frame of a brand new house  Has anyone already gone through this work and can give us tips?

Haha, I can totally relate.
Back then, I had permission from the landlords to do it in our house, but I still didn’t dare to drill into the wooden frames.
So I went with the clamping method, which is hooked into the frame using springs. I wouldn’t do that again today. In my opinion, the springs don’t do the seals in the window any good; the window closes more stiffly.

Measure according to the four-eyes principle, take your time for the installation, and it will work out; it’s really not rocket science. But I can really understand that there is an internal hurdle. I’m renovating right now and will soon be facing the issue again... let’s see how brave I am this time :)
