Install built-in dishwasher externally

Hello Ikea friends,

after struggling with the Ikea kitchen planner for some time, I am currently facing a problem with the installation of the dishwasher. Due to the connection, I would have to place the dishwasher (medelstor 45cm) all the way to the far left outside, which would be problematic because the countertop underneath would have no support and the paneling on the outside would be missing. Unfortunately, the space to the left does not provide 20cm up to the edge, so I cannot install a 20cm base cabinet there as a finishing element.

Would anyone know a way to create a supporting finish there (with normal plain paneling, so no glossy end panels)? Apparently, there are no 45cm cabinets, otherwise I would have tried to install the dishwasher in one, which probably also wouldn’t have been ideal..

Hello, we are in almost the same situation.

Currently, the plan is to install 2x UTBY legs and then cover them from the side and front.

That would be an option.. but I fear that it might be a bit unstable. And what do you plan to cover these with? Are you buying another corpus and then cutting its outer walls to a suitable size?

usually a side panel or a piece of countertop is used as a support panel. A solution with UTBY is also not bad and could simplify the installation. One should consider, 1. the top mounting plate would have to be shortened, otherwise it would protrude or the countertop would overhang and there would be a gap between the countertop and the paneling, 2. UTBY would be visible between the paneling and the dishwasher or UTBY would also have to be covered at the front.

The side panels are also available in matte (e.g. Förbättra side panel, Veddinge side panel).
