Install a technical room in the garage? Is this possible?

: Connection costs from the utility providers include a flat length of cable runs, e.g., 12.5 meters. Anything beyond that must be paid per meter, but it should remain within reasonable limits. However, whether long routes are preferable is pointed out as an example by 104

I was only concerned about whether it is generally feasible. A colleague told me that it didn't work for him. The water meter and gas connection should have the shortest route from the street to the house, and that's why, for him, they are located in the garage next to the door in the corner. The suggestion from our architect is to have the utility room/technical room behind the garage. Now I am unsure whether this is not possible.

Some GCs do not want that, especially when the garage is not built by the GC. Then arguments are made with long cable routes, controlled residential ventilation, or similar. But actually, most just want the heating system they supplied to be installed in the house they built. I can partly understand that. Therefore, I am glad that I am now building with a company that is also building the garage for me and did not recommend a prefabricated garage.

Anything is possible!!! – whether it makes sense is another matter and was well explained by (long piping route to the installations INSIDE the house, longer waiting times for example with water). Also, one should consider that the connection routes outside the house must not be built over – in case of emergency, digging is necessary... these are additional costs per meter...

"should" means something different from "must"!

So you can get an idea, a first draft. Do the paths seem drastically longer to you? I like that I don't have the utility room inside the house.

I can well understand that; housing technology in a prefabricated garage is not so easy either. That also makes the most sense if the technology is located within the warm building envelope. That is primarily a matter of cost and effort Rheinische greetings
