Hello Miaupat,

I am not particularly tall, but 88 cm countertop height would be too low for me. Have you considered retractable sockets if the landlord won't allow any changes?

Try entering versenkbare steckdose küche into a search engine. You can then pull out a triple or quadruple power strip from the countertop. They are actually quite easy to install.

There are also nice corner socket strips if you have a corner in the kitchen.

Juliette's idea is a nice solution, provided there are enough connection options for these sockets. Taking them out of the wall and fitting them with a cover, at least partially visible, shouldn't bother you either.

The tiles don't look like you can't get more. If the landlady is willing to make a change, that would be the best.

The stupid flooring has certainly added some height as well.

5 cm foot 80 cm cabinet 4 cm countertop = 89 cm total height > 88.5 cm. What was the Ikea lady thinking?

Have you ever placed a spirit level orthogonally to the wall on the floor at different spots? If it slopes slightly towards the wall, there isn't even 885 mm of height available. Also, if the floor isn't completely even parallel to the wall and the sockets are not above the highest point of the floor.

In an emergency, you could still cut off a centimeter from the socket cover at the bottom, even if a VDE engineer would probably scream now, but the metal frame of the socket would be covered by the countertop and the edge to the countertop could be sealed. Of course, the countertop should then have no metal edge at the back.

Thanks again for the feedback :)

The current status is as follows:

Last Tuesday, I sent an email to the Ikea employee responsible for our kitchen. I asked her to double-check the measurements to ensure that the installation can proceed smoothly. Additionally, I suggested the idea of a 2.8 instead of a 3.8 countertop. I also asked her whether the 25-year warranty would still remain valid with the "foreign" feet and if she could provide me with a written confirmation...

At first, I received no answer until Friday. After a long phone conversation, I then learned that she had been on vacation.

Yesterday, I received a reply to my email: "The 25-year warranty remains valid. Since the order was placed 10 days ago, no changes can be made."

Although I have not yet signed and returned the order confirmation, the order was processed. I had agreed by email, but with the thought that it would certainly work with the proposed 5cm feet. When I pointed out that I had not yet signed the order confirmation, I was told that the order could also be canceled and started over completely. This would delay the delivery and installation again.

I still do not know whether the feet and measurements are correct. I have also not received a written confirmation of the warranty.

If the kitchen planning proceeded without problems, the installation would be at the beginning of June, as the appointments for the installation service are difficult to get.

Therefore, I do not understand why it is not possible to replace a non-customized countertop in the order or possibly only cancel the countertop, since it could theoretically be taken immediately...

Thanks for the note about the incorrect measurements; according to my calculations, the limit of 88.5 is exceeded.

Hello, regarding the thickness of the countertop, it is important to check the minimum thickness required by the manufacturer of the cooktop. If the cooktop is installed above the oven, it is also necessary to consider whether there could be problems with a 2.8 cm thick countertop. Provided that the 2.8 cm countertop can be used and a non-custom standard slab is sufficient, I would place an additional order for the thinner countertop and request free delivery, as the employee clearly miscalculated. If this is not possible through the employee responsible for the order, a solution should be found with customer service.
