Exactly, that's why option 2. Is it a residential cellar or a utility cellar? Maybe (can someone who knows help here) staircases to purely utility areas are allowed to be a bit steeper and thus the staircase can be made shorter, so you don't tumble down immediately when coming in...

Our architect (who is no longer quite so young) told us during the planning that as a young architect he learned from a very old architect: "You design stairs so that when going up, the heart is where the eye of the stairs is." In his opinion, only left-turning stairs are the right ones. And that brings us to option 2. Now everyone take a look to see if you also have "right stairs" ... ;)

we had that in the old house, a tall cabinet in the stairwell opening and many asked grinning whether we planned the house with a staircase around the cabinet, it fit. The tenants placed the side by side refrigerator there, central and the staircase hidden in the open-plan room
