On the one hand, the question is whether the distance of the cabinet or the rail to the ceiling was really meant, on the other hand, Ikea must consider as many eventualities as possible. If you do not know the overall planning, you will not consider some things. For example, with a built-in recirculation hood, you need more space above the cabinet for the air outlet, or with a gas stove, the distance to the upper cabinets must be at least 65 cm.

In step 11 of the assembly instructions, you see two spacers that are mounted at the bottom of the cabinet. If you omit these, it could compensate for the offset of the tile backsplash. If the tile backsplash is too thick, then something must also be placed under the hanging rail.

Yes, that's probably true... Thank you, I hadn't seen point 11 yet .. otherwise I still have a suitable wooden strip of the right length and thickness from the old Ikea kitchen.. maybe you can mount the Metod rail on it?

Funny, IKEA expert, are you also from Frankfurt am Main??

Sure, I am also from Frankfort. The strip for support should be at least as wide as the rail (approx. 6 cm). then it is not a problem.

Cool, then you are probably often in Nieder Eschbach at Ikea too.

I bought a rail and an upper cabinet yesterday to see if and how it could fit.. if I make the distance between the countertop and the bottom of the upper cabinet 50 cm (I am short) then I have 8 cm of space to the ceiling. That should definitely be enough for hanging it up...
The Metod rail is about 1 cm "thick," but unfortunately my tile backsplash is 1.5 cm.
I will get a wooden rail 0.5 cm thick in the appropriate length and 6 m wide, that should work then.
best regards

Also from the south, Nieder-Eschbach is closer than Hanau or Wallau.

If you want to use cover panels, keep in mind that they will no longer align completely with the front or there will be a gap towards the wall. This problem does not occur if you replace the spacers at the bottom.

Thank you! I only need a cover panel between the tall cabinet and the kitchen unit.. is there a single-line kitchen?
