if you need a straight countertop: Ikea is cheaper
if you are building an L- or U-shaped kitchen and want corner cuts instead of visible edge joints, then Hornbach is cheaper than Ikea. But Hornbach only offers two designs of dark gray countertops.

Yes, I have a U-shaped kitchen. The problem is that no matter where I asked in Berlin, the delivery time is 6 weeks. Without special machines, you won't achieve professional corner joints. If they don't make them for stock items at the hardware store, you can ask at a carpentry shop or butt the panels together with the [FIXA Fugenleiste].

What does the kitchen look like? Can't you live with a temporary cheap countertop for 20 euros, like the LILLTRÄSK? Or even old desk tops etc., depending on the size of your kitchen? In the bargain bin, you can sometimes get them for under 10 euros.

Temporary means until a custom-made one is delivered to you. ;)

I have one more question regarding the dishwasher. Is it actually possible to install completely normal freestanding dishwashers that can be built under? If not - why? I have already ordered the Neff but had the discussion with a colleague yesterday.

You simply slide a freestanding dishwasher without a METOD front into the designated gap, no problem (as long as it is not taller than 88cm, but they usually are not). It just doesn’t look right, so what. I also have a freestanding one.
