In theory, it is advantageous to exclusively use a managed solution for WLAN if one is already using one. In practice, these advantages are likely to be negligible in a single-family house—especially with users who have low demands.

I have been doing this for years, and it works perfectly.

That was not even mentioned by me.

If you are satisfied yourself, then everything is fine.

I'm just sorry for you that it obviously isn't going so well.

Connect one DECT base station each to LAN, set them up according to the network and register the phones.
Have a look at Gigaset, it is explained quite well there.

So. Now let's get to the point. Maybe I'm just too stupid.

Nope... I can say that from my own experience with both good notebooks and good smartphones. The devices are dumb. As long as the old access point still sends some kind of halfway decent signal, it won't switch to the better one. (Access point and router same SSID) That's exactly what mesh is supposed to improve. And I can confirm that in my current apartment. It works with mesh about 95%.

Ben-man's opinion goes in that direction too.

So again my question: can APs connected to the router via CAT7 cable have intelligent control like mesh Wi-Fi networks?

If not, I would be pretty disappointed. It annoyed me so much back then to constantly help manually.

That works if there's a controller in front that manages roaming. In my experience, a FritzBox doesn't do that so well. With the Unifi APs (greetings to :P ) it works wonderfully.
