I can't say anything about Mikrotik, but the Unifi controller works wonderfully with the Edge for me. Safari also works very well.

You do not have to buy a controller. You can install the software on a PC and make the settings there. These settings are then applied to all devices. This is the advantage, making one setting and then transferring it to all devices at the same time. The controller does not always have to run.

Yes, that really should be emphasized. There is absolutely no need to buy the controller. Install it once on the computer, set up the APs, done.

Yes, if it turns out to be these APs, then I will do it that way. At first glance, I liked the Mikronik devices. But the access points seem to have some problems and are not actively being further developed. Very unfortunate. I will continue searching calmly... fortunately, this matter is not urgent at all.

The prejudice of the "weak" Access Points is often heard with Mikrotik. My opinion: The hardware is wonderful, and the software is unparalleled, but due to the wide range of configuration options, a lot can also be done wrong.

Incidentally, although with Ubiquiti the controller can only be started as needed, not all use cases can be covered this way. I find the concept of CAPsMAN at Mikrotik much more professional. As I said: At the cost of the learning curve. Otherwise, I hardly know any company where the products are developed so continuously and actively as with Mikrotik, and where above all all customers can benefit from these improvements free of charge and indefinitely. It is true: New products (with new technology such as 802.11ax) sometimes take a little longer to appear than with the bigger players, but I do not see that as too bad, because these technologies first have to establish themselves in the market anyway to be usable.

Thank you very much. I just took a look at the unify APs. The ceiling solution is actually pretty cool
