Okay, we will try not to beat around the bush in the future. Last night there simply came a point that just made me want to complain... Sorry!

The windows from the architect? An imposition!
• French balconies even though it was communicated that they were not desired - has he already forgotten that we don't want them?
• Floor-to-ceiling windows facing the very closely standing neighboring houses and small windows facing the gardens... Shouldn't it obviously be the other way around?
• Far too many different window formats - more uniform ones would be more visually appealing...

This is the reason the window discussion even came up... Unfortunately!
I would like to show you the architect's views but we have already "scribbled over" them.

Hi, milkie. I wouldn't overestimate that. My husband and I luckily agree on many things immediately, but on other Firlefans-related matters we also argue fiercely. To prevent it from escalating, I often say that we should settle it physically (my husband is about twice as heavy as I am). Then he laughs and we both relax a bit for the next round. We've actually settled it physically once. However, we laughed so much that no winner could be determined...

Be careful with all the discussing that you don’t end up building a house that none of you like in the end :)

Compromises are good and all, but not everything has to be a compromise.
Who has more passion for it?
For example, I had few ideas about how our bathroom should look. I let my wife choose the tiles, then I looked again myself and picked the ones I liked best from her selection. My only requirement: light/white wall tiles.

In the end, the result convinces me, even if I might never have chosen that tile myself. For me, there would have been much less color involved.

These are good pieces of advice. Thank you very much! We'll see if we can get by more "easily" with this.

One should also sometimes reflect on their own traits: if someone likes to spend money and the other saves it, the latter would be in the better position. Or as DerDa already says: one has passion and is a little tinkerer in design, then you should give him more freedom or let the other one step back and trust him. One likes to cook, so they get to choose the kitchen appliances, the front can be decided by both, and if no compromise can be found, the style should match the house ;)

By the way, before even choosing the tiles, we repeatedly outlined our ideas.

Me: "... but you don't like white tiles either, right? You find them too cold, don't you?" Him: "Yes, something warmer would be nice!" Me: "But dark or anthracite is so sensitive..." Him: "Yes??? Of course we don't want that." Me: "Well, first of all, I saw some nice tiles that you would also like, they have a slightly mottled surface." Him: "Oh yes, then we can check them out in person sometime" ;) :) :D

It was completely different for me. During the construction, my husband was away a lot and practically left all the decisions to me. Honestly, I don’t know if that was better than with milkie... It wasn’t easy for me! But all’s well that ends well! The house is finished and we both like it:o
