You are probably approaching the house planning the wrong way! First and foremost, a type of house that you like develops in the partnership or living together. Correspondingly, the windows belong to the house type. If you like the Bauhaus style, you should also like large window fronts and corresponding bands; if you favor a Frisian house, casement windows might fit. If continuous mullions are too much for one, you can agree on mullions in the upper third. If floor-to-ceiling windows are too much, just use more with sills. Apart from that, a lack of willingness to compromise is also a form of selfishness, definitely not great in a partnership if you consider yourself more important than your partner.

Maybe rent a house first and try whether it will be a long-term living community ;)

Well, just think about it. Do you have friends, acquaintances, or relatives who after a year still haven't agreed on the construction? What does the plot look like??
