That's not quite true. There are very, very many examples of room-high tiling. For example, us (I posted the planning) Just type bathrooms into Dr. Google, you'll see about 50% of the pictures with room-high tiles. According to our general contractor, you should do this with controlled residential ventilation. Without it, there could be problems. He mentioned something about the connection between tile and ceiling and water formation.

I mean like this

(those are not 30-50cm (the tiled area extends beyond the actual object), more like 10. Behind the toilet I would rather go with 30cm, because of splash stains...

My goodness, don’t make it so complicated and take a mental step back: let the builder install the frame in the bathroom, then they’ll have to deal with it.

You’ll manage the painting work around this one frame as well, you just have to work more carefully, especially do the taping properly. Of course, remove the door itself. It’ll be fine!

first house: newly built mid-terrace house, bathroom 7sqm, no window: tiles up to the ceiling by the builder = never again second house: existing semi-detached house bathroom 8sqm and guest WC, both with large window: tiles up to the ceiling (the previous owners did it) = never again current house: newly built detached house: bathroom 13sqm, half-tiled around the tub, tiles up to the ceiling in the shower, tiles up to the ceiling with a textured pattern on the wall with the washbasins, rest: no tiles at all guest WC: wall with toilet and washbasin half-tiled, rest no tiles at all would do it the same way again :)

I would have preferred to leave most of it out instead of having half-height everywhere except the shower. So only the walls directly next to the objects half-height and the shower as usual completely. Unfortunately, my wife thought differently. We now have half-height everywhere.

Same for us. Up to the door frame would have been enough for me, but the boss said ceiling-high. We then made a compromise: ceiling-high
