DNL, do you even have children or are you planning to have any? I couldn't find anything about it or did I overlook it?

Yes, we have two small children. No more are planned. For things like bicycles, outdoor toys, etc., I honestly see one (or maybe two?) garden sheds. Or a carport-like but much smaller solution on the side of the house.

Hello,

If a shed roof is allowed, then a staggered shed roof is also allowed ... perhaps an alternative?

Attached you will find the attic of a building project that we will start shortly. There are already 2 children living in the household, the client is pregnant again; so far, 5 children are planned. Therefore, the limits of the development plan have been completely explored in the design. Apart from the fact that you probably won't need a bathroom in the attic, the design illustrates the available space for storage rooms with a staggered shed roof.

Best regards from the Rhineland

5 planned children, that is not common anymore nowadays. I once saw in another floor plan/house that the pantry (behind the kitchen) was also used as a craft room. On one wall there were closed storage cupboards and on the other a worktop with a rolling cabinet and wall cupboards. The room itself was not very large (maybe 6 sqm) but optimally utilized.

Hello,

That’s true

In our design - 10.00 x 12.00 m, two stories, 0.70 m knee wall and roof pitch 30° - we also tried to consider everything that might ever be “necessary”; a futile endeavor, but our clients contributed their ideas. 5 children’s rooms, separate parents’ area with dressing room, guest room on the ground floor, 2 bathrooms plus an additional shower bathroom on the ground floor as well as enough storage space on all floors. So we come to round about 230 sqm without basement plus garage 3.00 x 9.00 m; plenty of space then

Rhenish greetings

Wow, five planned kids! You really don’t see that much anymore these days. Really a pity.
How big are the five children's rooms? I’d really like to know. I don’t even know if I would really make a separate room for each child; until they’re about 10 years old, two can easily share a room. With a nice bunk bed, you can set that up really well.

DNL – I would definitely plan for lots of cupboard and shelf space in all the rooms, closets preferably up to the ceiling (built-in wall in the bedroom, for example). Depending on the age of the children, maybe bunk beds in the children’s rooms. Underneath you then gain additional play space and can perhaps fit another chest of drawers or something else elsewhere.
And definitely tall cabinets in the kitchen too. Ours, for example, go almost up to the ceiling. In the topmost compartment, I keep things that I would otherwise put in the basement because I rarely use them (waffle iron, raclette, fondue, etc.). Pay attention to the plinth height. If you choose a low one, depending on the provider, you can fit an extra row of drawers (for example, we have only an 8cm plinth and therefore 4 instead of only 3 drawers).
