That was my first thought, on which the floor plan was also based. But I have the feeling that the garden will then be relatively small and the privacy screen will also be significantly more difficult.

Then tell me more about your wishes. The garden can hardly get any bigger. Where should the garden be? Push it yourself to place it as you want. Then show your best 3 variants.

I cut it out in a very old-fashioned way so that I can move it back and forth on the plan to scale – so please excuse the rather poor quality. I have also attached a picture of the property.

It is definitely important to me to get as much out of the size of the garden as the property allows. We will sit on the terrace 90% of the time in the evenings, except on weekends and during vacations.

With the entrance facing east, I have the feeling that a lot of space is "wasted" there because behind the house in the terrace area there is only a small strip available, and you look directly at the neighbor’s garage and driveway to the west – although of course there would still be a larger area to the south, which of course would be nice. Overall, however, I have the (subjective) feeling that placing the entrance to the south yields more garden space, you don’t have to "shield off" as much to the neighbor in the west (the carport is then next to his driveway in one design) and the border of the property, e.g. with a hedge, is simpler and could look better overall. Perhaps I just lack the creative mind for the design with east orientation.
The problem there, of course, is the lack of sunlight on the terrace.
An advantage of south orientation would probably also be the (later desired) photovoltaic system, which of course would get more sun that way.
I think the variant with the carport on the corner is the worst of all solutions.

That would be one of the most important parameters for me as a builder if I want to plan a house with room layouts, house orientations, and the location of the parking space. I also don't see any point in continuing here if the optimum lies in the east, but you don't know if that is possible. You don't have to plan for the middle ground when the optimum might be possible?!

Oh, I think we talked past each other, sorry. According to my desired builder, the house can be freely placed on the plot – he has built several houses in that area.

I think you are making a lot of thinking mistakes
But only in the summer or warm season. And since you usually plan several terraces anyway, for example by the sandbox or swing around the corner, in front of the entrance door for evening neighbor chats, etc., you should make sure that at least the path from the kitchen to the dining/grill area remains short.

You are planning children's rooms, right? Wouldn't it be more important for the children's rooms to have a nice location, e.g. enough light exposure from the south or west? The rooms should also not be neglected in winter. The sun sets in the southwest in winter. It’s a pity if only the entrance door can benefit from that.

The garden is and can be everywhere. It is not static. Every side of the house has its legitimate reasons, e.g. vegetables in the east or west, space by the driveway for playing children and changing tires, etc. If it gets too tight in the front, that’s annoying. If the lawn loses a meter in depth, you won’t notice. Simply plant bushes to block views of the neighbor’s garage, etc.
