we are "getting" new dormer windows. Because they are very flat, they will be covered with metal sheets. It will probably be titanium zinc. I also plan to use this material for the porch roof. Under the metal sheet is wood, and beneath that is a thick insulation (of course, for the porch roof only where and if an interior space is created). I don't know exactly what sits between the wood and the metal sheet—that will have to be determined by a roofer. A foil or a coating. This construction method is not a new invention and has been practiced for a long time. But our bedroom is not near the entrance. Getting a cost estimate for bending thicker (3 mm?) metal sheet might be interesting. That would also save some other costs.... How much quieter that would be is, of course, difficult to predict...
