If you look closely, our house is from the 70s and not very imaginative. I am planning an entrance that brings joy when passing by or walking through.

According to Hessian building regulations, you can build an entrance area that is not too large without a building permit. I like that.

I hope the pictures show what is meant. In the third one you can see the current state ... I have already "spiced up" the door a bit before, but that is not enough for me.

The roof (white here) is to be covered with metal. The door will be moved slightly outward.

It is still just an idea ... We'll see ...

How is water supposed to collect on a roof like that when everything slopes upwards?

It reminds me of the sacred buildings in Asia. Do you want that?
I think this quarter-round canopy suits you. Built like a quarter of a cylinder. Looks like you could fold it up.

Very....interesting.
It's a matter of taste... it wouldn't be mine. I also don't think it fits with the rest.
Regardless:

- Drainage?
- Statics? How is it supposed to lift?
- What material is it supposed to be? Sheet metal covered and underneath?

Before I would start with the porch roof, I would personally start with the concrete slabs or the terracotta tiles.

That was also my first thought. I think you can beautify a lot with nice paving stones.

Best regards

I also don't believe that fits with the rest

the "rest" is - to my taste - simply meaningless.
... my lifelong business is designing things. I look only to a very small extent at whether something "fits," because I consider it far more important whether a detail is pleasing in itself.
There are old houses where the entire building has no special features and only, for example, in the middle, there is a balcony made of ornate wrought iron.
It would be similar here.
The floor stones belong to the entrance for me and are, of course, included.
However, I have to say that 90% of today's architecture does not appeal to me and it would not be surprising if 90% of all people consider my ideas nonsense.
I think there is much too little ease, fun, humor, joy in play, and such content in house building in 2020 (2019 was no different)
When I look at where city tourists travel, it is not the modern, new cities.
Even in New York, the popular skyscrapers are the old ones, from the 1930s...

I am happy - despite this conviction - about your comments. My experience is: communication supports creativity ... it is not necessarily important that everyone pulls in the same direction ...

At the moment, the water from the porch roof runs through the air on one side into the meadow. In my plan, it also runs into the meadow on both sides. In any case, it does not come down where one wants to walk. It is to be covered (as a first idea) with sheet metal - which will also be used on two new dormers on the roof. The sheet metal would lie on wood, which in turn would be attached to a metal frame. (and possibly receive additional support at the front) A second plan is concrete. There is a gentleman who is an artist and scientist, Swen Backstein, who works with concrete. He has various and sophisticated techniques and materials for concrete construction in his shop. I trust myself to "cast" (trowel) a curved concrete surface according to his technical suggestions, which looks like my design, is watertight - and holds. However, I must admit: it would be an experiment and can, of course, also fail. But that's the exciting part ))
