Hello,

What is an Aufnehmer?

Hmm, the problem is actually not about going up immediately after entering the house (I assume that the habit has generally established itself to take off shoes upstairs), but rather that in the evening hours, when everyone is ready for bed (including adults), they come back downstairs and then walk through street dirt (in socks or barefoot).

I’ll put it this way: it’s actually almost always clean with us, but unfortunately even the few grains of sand that fall in the hallway area bother me. I am also sensitive on my feet. When I think that I was previously at OBI or Ikea in the public restrooms, where I might have had to stand in wet spots because a mother was holding her child over the bowl, but nothing went in it – only ran along the outside – it makes me shudder. Where else I walk in and then spread that inside the house, I prefer to just block that out.
I grew up with stairs inside the living area and only had those: therefore, I also pay attention to a small distance between door and stairs.

However, the location of the stairs is a good prerequisite for the location of the upper rooms, so it is partly the lesser evil to have them in the entrance area.

Regards Yvonne

Yes, and our front door was even covered and had a doormat both outside and inside. Since we always take off our shoes on the mat, on rainy or snowy days the moisture and mud would spread on the inner doormat. I don’t have a shoe dryer at the front door And if you wanted to quickly walk upstairs in socks or barefoot — yuck.

Now our shoe storage is right next to the door on a dirt-trapping mat and the stairs are opposite the door. No more sand when going upstairs. No more wet socks because you have to walk over the wet doormat, and dirt on the ground floor is also not spread around since shoes are taken off right at the door on the mat and not three meters further in.

Here you can see it. Where the stool with the radio is, the shoes are now standing. The position of the stairs also gave us another room on the upper floor. Since we extended the front of the upper floor a bit - as a roof over the front door - we were able to accommodate a children's bathroom here. Certainly not an unnecessary luxury with 3 girls.

Hello Yvonne,

Take a look at the attachment

I see that the same way; besides, it also depends on oneself and on what values the woman/man models for their offspring ... as long as they live with them. How they then handle it later on their own can be their concern; for me, it certainly isn’t, not at all

But does it really not matter where the stairs begin, or do I just have such a knot in my brain today...?

All rooms inevitably orient themselves according to the location of the stairs in the house. Quite often, having them positioned at the front – especially in narrower designs – is better than elsewhere.

Thanks for the picture! Luckily, tastes differ! For example, I would have gotten rid of the bulky wardrobe, or at least looked for another place for it. Such a beautifully spacious entrance area, and then the wardrobe not only pushes the appearance of the very classic interior door (guest WC?) but also the front door system into the background... Please don't take this the wrong way Rheinische greetings
