Hello everyone,
first of all, many thanks for the numerous, constructive suggestions.
Regarding #8:
We are planning a suspended ceiling for the upper floor. It might possibly be implemented in a way that there is still an attic with storage space. But I don’t know if it’s worth it, since we have a relatively low roof pitch, especially because a well-insulated access is not cheap either. On the other hand, it might be useful as a maintenance access, e.g. in case something on the roof is damaged.
Regarding #9:
The pantry is 1.23 m deep. The kitchen planning is not yet completed, some cabinets are still missing and the arrangement is not really fixed. It’s still a mystery to me how to accommodate my kitchen wishes. Especially the elevated dishwasher that I would like doesn’t quite fit into the concept yet.
The terrace planning is also not fixed yet. I would quite like to extend the terrace on the west and also on the east side. Since we will build it later anyway, we can first try out where we feel most comfortable. For shading, we are considering whether we should build a pergola on the south side, possibly with shading by an awning or a sun sail.
And our hammock chair of course needs a good place. We have also thought about extending the roof of the technical room so that it covers the entire west side of the house. This would then provide a sheltered place outside. The disadvantage is that less light would come through the west window into the house.
Regarding #9 and #10:
We will reduce the house dimensions, the rooms are actually bigger than they need to be. You fiddle so much with small details and lose sight of the essentials... On the one hand, we don’t want to live too cramped, but it should also be cozy and of course affordable.
Regarding #11:
The north view is difficult. The windows are located in the bathroom (next to the toilet I don’t want windows with a 90 cm sill height) and in the bedroom (here we now plan to place the bed under the window).
Since no one works from home with us, we don’t place much importance on a study. And if you want to do your tax return in peace, for example, or have someone over while the kids are playing in the living room, we have planned a two-part sliding door between the living room and the dining room/kitchen.
Instead of the extra children’s bathroom on the upper floor, we have planned an alternative/guest bathroom on the ground floor. We prefer that, because we definitely want a guest toilet on the ground floor. The shower is a nice addition and shortens the waiting times you mentioned. :)
Regarding #12:
I agree with you about the front door; we will probably plan one with an additional light strip and the doors to the living room and kitchen will get a glass or plastic element. We will also change the direction of opening. The small cabinets are placeholders and slipped under the stairs in the last version of the floor plan. I want coat hooks for jackets here and a bench. Next to it there will be space for a dirt tray or something like that for shoes. But that is not fixed in detail yet.
I haven’t looked at the door dimensions very closely yet, I just took the standard door. I have to take another look.
I have to test your suggestion for the pantry to see if it then works with the rest of the furnishing.
We don’t yet know whether we might want a corner bench or a bench pushed to the wall after all. Then a floor-to-ceiling window would be rather disadvantageous.
We prefer to keep the traffic area smaller in favor of living space, especially since the house dimensions (see regarding #9 and #10) will also be reduced. However, the corridor on the upper floor is really quite dark, here we still have to think about how to solve this.
In the next few days I will incorporate your suggestions into the plan and then put it online again.
Thank you all very much.
Best regards
