Moreover, in my opinion, you can definitely plan the kitchen before everything else is in place. There are supposedly people who plan a house around the kitchen. However, I acknowledge that with this construction, which is supposed to cover multiple facets, the kitchen probably cannot be the top priority.

Alternatively, rotate the island 90 degrees if the layout is to remain otherwise the same. That would probably be easier.

@ysop .. at least an approach ... storage then generally narrower, it will rather be a utility closet with vacuum cleaner etc. and possibly access from the hallway.

And, just very briefly about the granny flat ... I find the kitchenette absolutely terrible. It corresponds to the 280 cm unit from the hardware store.

Not in the sense that it would be a disorder that requires help. But simply because I consider it likely that the "old ones" here do not want to offend the "young ones" with their charming idea of thinking of them when building; but in reality, when Dad retires, they won't move there because Mom then finds the way to her bridge partners too far. Or the two of them travel half the year with the motorhome across La Gomera or through Tibet. "Old age" (behind the seven mountains, with the seven dwarfs) is something completely different from real retirement when it actually comes. Tomorrow, tomorrow, just not today, is the day when most people quit smoking. Why should moving in with the children be any different? - you can't keep a farmer in bed until seven in the morning just with a pension notice; he's not used to that. It's worth professionally sorting out dream and probability here. Otherwise, in a dozen years I see the builders changing the property because this realization has developed alongside my gloomy predictions ;-)

I think it hasn’t been fully considered yet. I already said or asked how it is with the granny flat financed by the parents. I believe the OP is somewhat shocked:oops:
