hm... I would say that the living room should be swapped with the terrace in summer

But anyway: you don't build a house and spend 300000 on a messed-up design, which immediately loses value because of a very bad upper floor.
Off to the planner - and without a drawing and with a list of needs and wishes!

Away with two things: that the house revolves around the staircase, and the facade symmetry. Then the way should be clear to find a more clever layout.

Is life without a TV really so hard to imagine? I really like the idea of moving a media area away from the garden – but it doesn’t have to be the living room that moves right away. That’s exactly what I thought too: The façade symmetry seems fixed and now hinders the planning. Play around with the following idea:
    [*
Ground floor: [LIST] [*] Longitudinal axis right: kitchen-dining-living axis [*] Longitudinal axis left: entrance, WC, stairs (not straight), work (ground floor facing garden)
    [*] Upper floor
      [*] 3 children's rooms, bedroom, and bathroom
In this way, you make good use of the length of the house. The stairs take up less space, and the upstairs hallway becomes smaller. Furthermore, the house is functionally well divided.

According to the plan, there is no separate media area and the TV is simply in the living room. It’s not just about the TV. It’s about the question "how often do you sit on the sofa besides work, child, and hobbies." The area towards the neighbor will certainly be spruced up as well. Climbee has shown what can be done.

And at what time of day and occasion, there I agree with you. A living room only for the evening and/or TV can go dark if it is not bright everywhere, I agree with you on that. TV is overrated and decreases in importance with the increase of home and personal screen time. I would no longer plan for it unless it is about a hobby or lack of imagination in evening activities. A brief reflection before building is certainly sensible. That is a very good hint!

Hey, there were some really good tips in there! I started with hampshires' suggestion but swapped the sides because that fits better with the floor plan. We actually use the TV quite rarely, we are often in the couch corner to play, chat, or read, and I find it nice if you can look towards the garden.

What do you think about it?
