Why then this staircase? I’ve already heard that the entire kitchen island and dressing area will be sacrificed; the staircase is new...

You could

move the floor-to-ceiling window that I planned to the right of the piano to the left and the piano to the right.

And, do people really sit on the sofa that often and look into the garden?

I would not place the toilet under the window.

You could move the bay window (why actually? why not make the whole house 36 cm lower here?) further to the left and then maybe put the fireplace in the bottom right corner... but that might look bad with the chimney  Then without a partition door to the living area... then from the sofa you would also get some of the big window.

then take a different one where you gain more living space!

I understand a lot - but I don't understand sticking stubbornly to this "straight stairs hype" when other options provide more living space and less traffic area.

With you, the cars have more space than the children :(

One should not forget that there are three children's rooms and a total of 2200 m² of land. All in all, that certainly means more space for these children than for the majority of their respective playmates.

In summer, a large garden is definitely worth a lot. Although in summer we only go outside around evening or late afternoon because otherwise it is simply too hot. And not to forget, the nasty weather in autumn, winter, and spring. I think children's rooms should be at least 12m2. They don't have to be huge rooms, but big enough for the children to build a Lego city with friends and leave it standing for 3 or 4 days without someone constantly knocking it over to get to the wardrobe or the bed. Our 3 children's rooms are each about 16m2, and I personally would not have planned smaller (per room 1.50m wardrobe, standard bed, desk, and 2-3 small cupboards and shelves for toys, books, and school supplies – that doesn't leave much space for playing).

I also wanted a straight staircase at the beginning! It's just "modern" right now, as ypg already said... But the first thing our architect said was: "Square house with a straight staircase don't work well!" We immediately dismissed that... You have almost 30sqm hallway! That's almost as much as all the children's rooms together! Are you aware of that? Why do you even need three children's rooms upstairs and then also the room downstairs?
