Is the fireplace relevant for heating or is it purely decorative and meant for the ambiance? For me personally, the fireplace would be pretty much the first thing I could do without. I wouldn't even plan for one in the first place. But tastes are very different. The question now is whether our comments on this will actually help the OP at all.

We are actually in need and haven't received a delivery for 2 years. It is very important to me, I need the heat source… for 2 years it has been sold out here. And if available, then at a horrendous price. You can order online in an emergency, but what crazy prices (at the moment). Yes, we could have collected storm wood. But when you come home in semi-darkness, and the man isn't fit, then you take the hardware store stuff in an emergency. I have always been pro-fireplace, but today's times and the outlook for the future change a lot. Climate, resources… our descendants will have to restrict themselves. And that also applies to today's house construction. The time for many things is over. My opinion.

It’s actually more or less there because it looks nice when a fire is burning in winter...
A side effect is that it creates cozy warmth ^^

Then I can only give you the tip with e..y classifieds. And not necessarily stick to the best goods. I have now found bark boards here, 10 Euro/m3.

And you quickly get warmth in the evening, which is difficult with underfloor heating.
