I edited my post above because I had only read the others afterwards

I would leave out the fireplace. When your little one slowly becomes mobile and starts crawling, you might not use it very often because of the risk of burns. The topic of wood and ongoing costs was already mentioned above. Instead, I would rather build a nice fire pit in the garden or on the terrace. You can then use it all year round.

I would only take 36.5 cm wall thickness and see the ideal wall pillar here at 75 cm length of the wider side (orientation does not matter). With 42.5 cm wall thickness, you can also make the pillar 36.5 cm (square) and put 6 cm insulation on it.

Is it really like that with firewood where you are? Here (Berlin area) you can buy it anytime in large quantities and varieties at different prices, whether through private or company classifieds or at the hardware store, freshly cut or already dry. Especially after the storms in winter, there is still so much lying around, so it should be no problem for a long time.

For me, the fireplace would be the very last thing to leave out. A fire bowl outside wouldn’t be an alternative, as it doesn’t provide any warmth indoors.

I have already understood that, and when it comes to ETICS, I myself am a vegetarian. The discussion was about cladding only the pillar, then it could even be made of aerated concrete.
