With such small houses, you want to use every possible spot. This staircase landing on the upper floor above the step is largely unused. I wonder if you could hang the staircase at an angle here (it also looks nicer, I think) and then build a wall cabinet at railing height (about 90cm) above the staircase step.

Here's a sketch - I hope it becomes clear:

Has anyone ever tried this?

The staircase is already quite critical... going up is just barely possible, but when going down, you almost always rock slightly upwards:

Here, the step that the person is about to step down onto has a clear passage height of about 200 cm. However, the person coming from above should not be taller than 180 cm if they want to go down without ducking.

Therefore, I would actually always plan staircase situations without any overhead construction above the entry area, at most above the first step.

If the cabinet only starts at parapet height, then we theoretically have a room height of 3.85m at that point in your example. That should work, right? But how do you build it?

Not bad either, but a lot of hallway and no space for an optional closet in the hallway.

That’s true, you can’t have less hallway.
Well solved, but now comes the unfortunately but: we want natural light in the hallway and we both don’t like skylights.

I agree with you, especially because our layout roughly looks like this (the window in the bedroom is not the correct height):

Thanks again for your effort.

Today we will take another look at the bedroom floor plans from and and decide on one. Each one has its pros and cons ... let’s see which one we choose.

I do not. Apparently, no one can imagine what a wall cabinet is that only starts at 90 cm above floor level.

Already decided?

If you’re stuck, here’s a real landing staircase (no slopes in the steps) to confuse you. I sacrificed the recess. If you ask me, that’s forgivable.
