Thanks for the hint, as far as I know our planned main contractor only uses bricks. I have already asked if filled bricks are possible, but he only uses 36 and 42.5 filled bricks. Among other reasons because he cannot ensure that the shell won't absorb water during rain with filled bricks. Forcing aerated concrete probably wouldn't make sense either if he is familiar with bricks.

We would like that too, but the zoning plan forces us to have a tent roof and based on the plot size alone, we can't go deeper, otherwise there would be no garden left.

That's true, I should have added that it's purely about the room layout. Please ignore doors and windows for now, there may still be errors there.

You’re right. The problem is that with the seating window, it already gets tight with the sofa. You also have to be able to walk up to the window. Having the fireplace outside would be an option, but our builder said first, it looks awful, and second, the chimney sweep would have to climb a ladder outside to clean it. From the layout alone, an exterior fireplace would be easier to integrate.

Merit badge - You obediently heed my stone mantra ;-)

Does he mean that covering the walls every evening is too much hassle for him?

You’re supposed to settle for a maximum 25° roof pitch. Let’s assume you push the recommended minimum pitch of some roof tiles with 21°. Then a house of equal size to 10.30 x 10.30 m could have sides of 9.35 x 11.35 m, that is, two meters of unequal side lengths — quite properly as a tent roof without a ridge. So this in no way forces a square format, which is always a handicap for a floor plan (at least under 150 sqm of floor space).

Do I understand correctly that you are aiming for a suboptimal sofa position or living room furnishing for a window seat instead of a sofa where several people from one household could comfortably sit to look into the garden (if it were planned properly)??? I would say that a reset with Pinterest and super wishes in mind should take place to then find the comfort that should at least be there, and not blindly plan a nice-to-have for which there actually is no space and which then senselessly takes up room next to the sofa pushed into the corner.

The same applies to the fireplace: I agree with the building contractor that with a pitched roof you don't use the exterior walls. Still, where it is now, it is a nuisance in every respect. That is folly. It is in the wrong place. This is a path that is walked several times a day, at night, etc. Either it is planned differently or it should be fundamentally questioned. My opinion. Especially since with this sofa position using it is not possible at all because the corner gets too hot, or will it be an ethanol/gas fireplace?
