Correct. North is the diagonal from the top left to the bottom right towards the guest bathroom (house floor plan). The guest bathroom is to the north.

I would also straighten the walls at the top. Although the rooms become a bit smaller, you won’t run into each other in the hallway: extend the wall by the parents’ room so that Child1 is reduced in size. Design the hallway at a right angle, Child2 will follow naturally.
Where should the guests sleep?
Is there, also financially, the possibility to integrate a shower bathroom in the attic? I would then (later) put the parents’ area in the attic and plan the room on the upper floor as a guest room. Reason: the room upstairs is too valuable for an office/guest room, plus you need separation. (If then Child 3 comes, you would have a children’s floor, for guests, the attic must then be partitioned... Or they come off worst, but that is the case with any planning)

Are you sure you want a staircase with a landing?
Is there the possibility to move the garage forward?
I would then omit the middle window on the side (or only a strip window opposite the stairs) and plan the top left window to be 2 meters wide.

As much as I like podest stairs, they make it difficult to create room accesses on the upper floor.

I would initially plan 2 children's rooms facing southwest there.

On the ground floor, a wood stove seems to be planned as well. I have placed it near what is probably also a necessary support column.

Kitchen now with a sliding door towards the terrace, which makes it much easier to enjoy nice barbecues and so on.

Living in the quiet area.

Instead of a storage room on the ground floor, almost 400 cm of wardrobe/vacuum cleaner/mop cabinet. Basement access in the entrance area.

On the upper floor, walls marked in orange indicate a wall height of about 100 cm, e.g. at the stair railing on the upper floor and in the bathroom as a partition between the toilet and bathtub. Light orange there then means a bathtub-high shelf.

In the original plan, the step dimensions are given as 18.9/26 or even only 18.9/25.5 for the attic.

Try to find a staircase with these measurements. I recently tried one with a 18.3 height and found it quite uncomfortable. The step depth could also be unpleasant. However, changing the staircase dimensions significantly affects the space requirements!

You might want to consider a rather modified shape (U).

,

thanks for the hint. I immediately scheduled an appointment with the staircase builder. The draftsman obviously didn’t advise us enough. He just drew it. Regarding the stairs, the following:

Among other things, we decided on the landing staircase because due to its size it gives us a longer TV wall. We communicate with eye contact (sign language), so I want the sofa to be against the wall. If we take the spiral staircase, then the TV wall (which is the staircase wall) is too short. We would have to put the sofa in the middle of the room and watch TV opposite it. (see picture: on the left us, on the right neighbor with U-stairs).

Regarding the garage, I will inquire whether it can be moved forward. Thanks for the hint!

My husband said that if we make the walls upstairs straight and then put the master bedroom on the north side, we won’t have enough space for the wardrobe. You would be standing in front of the wardrobe from the door.

Shower bath: Hm, you are right. It’s all, as you said, a question of money. I will educate myself on this.

WOW! Thanks. I didn’t expect that. I printed it out right away and will discuss it with my husband tonight. Completely different. Only the living room on the street side is quite unusual for me. In my parents’ house, the living room had a very large window front. I have to think about that.
Yes, I also like landing staircases. But we didn’t decide only because of the look (see above).

Here is the drawing showing why we preferred the platform stairs. It extends the wall in the living room, which we then wanted to use as a TV wall. The sofa would then be opposite at the window front.
