Although you have a large window area in the living area in your basic ideas, you immediately block it again with the sofa so that you can watch TV opposite.

The window in the living area in my planning could also be larger ... but you always have to think about when you use the living area more, when you use the dining/cooking area more as a communication center, and then, as I planned, always have a view into the room for the main tasks. Also good for sign language communication. Because you usually don't stand very long at the stove, or just briefly from time to time to quickly stir something. But chopping, washing things, preparing cookies/pizza, and similar activities can be wonderfully done at an island that faces the room.

I also don't like cellar stairs in the living area ;) ... therefore, the cellar stairs are in the entrance area.

Since you unfortunately did not include a section, I currently cannot assess whether the staircase I planned is sufficient from the upper floor to the attic. Roof shape, knee wall height, etc. are decisive here.

The length of the wall is independent of the staircase -> you can extend it :)

Are you perhaps a Hobbit? (just a little joke ;))

I know many newly built houses from friends/colleagues with around ~18 rise and ~26 tread width, and none of the stairs has seemed uncomfortable to me, nor have the children or other people in those households had problems with them. Certainly, the staircase could be built much larger, but the slight gain in comfort often doesn’t justify the additional space requirements.

Plan by kbt: I also find it much better this way, especially considering the boundary condition of sign language. Standing at the kitchen island, you can communicate throughout the entire room, and the floor plan is just a bit more modern.

Admittedly, I am small. ;-) And I am used to a staircase with approx. 17 cm at my parents' place.

However, we are not talking about around 18 cm here, but almost 19 cm! If Winterkind says at the end that she likes the rise, then everything is fine. But it would be a pity if she only notices that it does not suit her after the construction...

19/26 steps rise is standard and easy to walk on :)

We also have a standard staircase with 19cm step height and find it quite normal, and I am not particularly tall. I have never thought that the steps are too high, or rather, in all the show homes we have already looked at, the steps were certainly just as high.
