well, then more like this?

Btw: The shower on the upper floor now has a glass partition after all, to make the room appear larger. And the shower in the ground floor bathroom is now also flush with the floor

I would probably attach the island downstream to the kitchen, omit the kitchen/storage door. Then you have a free wall and can access the fridge better, even via short routes :)

The dining table would probably be too uncomfortable for me. Having the stairs fully in view, and being completely "unprotected" in the middle of the room, wouldn't really be my thing.

With a room depth of 427 cm, one should consider the possibilities of a real island. And also keep in mind that a range hood in an open space with over 10 m room width is exposed to many cross drafts that can affect its performance.

I haven't looked back any further, but a walk-in closet in the master bedroom area... how would that even work?

yes, that’s probably just a matter of taste :p

I’m probably more claustrophobic by nature. I feel comfortable when there is space around me (and lots of windows). And the staircase is imo an eye-catcher and is deliberately not hidden. We liked model homes best where the staircase went across the living spaces, so in the direction of a loft

And do newer buildings even have large air flows anymore?
Acquaintances of mine have a large living/dining area with kitchen on almost 80sqm on the ground floor, and they can’t report anything negative about it.

ah.. editing was no longer possible..

The floor plan is designed in such a way that, if necessary, an additional wall could be built towards the staircase.

I like open stairs. And it’s not that open at all. What I just noticed: draw a table in normal size, then the room will look different.
