I have to fully agree with Alex85 here. Are you seriously trying to convince the self-proclaimed "technology refuser" Nordlys over 8 pages that he absolutely needs Gigabit LAN and preferably preparation for fiber optics?! If only 30-40 MBit arrive via WLAN on the Medion notebook, he probably won’t even notice. Of course, some are happy about the "botch job" with the undemanding Nordlys here. Since he likes to emphasize this undemanding nature and shows no understanding for other approaches, that is somewhat understandable. Still, you have to keep things in perspective. Just try it and that’s it. You’re doing that anyway. There’s a Plan B as well, so all is good.

Read it again; then you would know that Nordlys already has fiber optic in the utility room; but his router likes to be in the office and unfortunately there is only 4-wire doorbell cable in between; and not like usually a nice CAT cable with twisted pairs and good insulation

Most don't want to push him any further anymore

I don't need to read that again. That FTTH arrives in the utility room is clear to me. I didn't mention LWL without reason in the Gigabit LAN context. Read it through again. Oh, people usually install a CAT cable? Unbelievable. That's why I understand your advice to tear open the walls again.

A little gloating is understandable, but ultimately it’s not the end of the world. A mistake that at worst costs €100 for a second box, WLAN or dLAN adapter. He will survive it and won’t have to stay offline either.

That would be a pity, as he is a real asset to the forum! Therefore, dear Nordlys: good luck and keep us posted!
