Thank you for some technical information. Firstly, I now know that the cabling was definitely done with four wires. The network socket should work. Secondly, I don’t have to look at any contract, because there isn’t one. Seriously, we built EVERYTHING with a handshake and a documented construction performance description. And that only says that the house gets a telephone connection in a room of our choice. Thats all. Karsten

That's true, those who already have an FTTH modem just put the router there. There is no problem.

Only many then start complaining again why they need an access point or a second FRITZ!Box and why the router cannot simply be placed in the office or living room. If you're lucky, there is a network cable or at least an empty conduit for a network cable to the access point.

If the router was previously in the office, connected to the first TAE via a 2-core cable that is not in an empty conduit, and now a CAT cable is needed there, then the "knitting" begins. You wouldn't believe what I've seen in the past months.

Then the Elis did everything right. Telephone socket is in the office and the other cable end is in the utility room!

Whether 2 x 2 without shielding works well remains to be seen? Proper workmanship is something else!

No. Whoever has FTTH and the router in the study also automatically has the CAT cable to the study. If the modem in the utility room is now replaced by a "router-modem," then the CAT cable to the study is automatically free. By the way, the old router can still be used as an access point.

Or do you mean that NOW FTTH could be in the study, but there is no CAT cable? In my opinion, that can't be, because the fiber optic cable MUST end in the connection room, at least with Telekom!

I would strongly doubt that. Most modern switches/routers wouldn't even recognize such a cable.
